Intro
My name is Ian Brandt. I head up software development at eTouchPoint.com, where we help companies ascertain and respond to customer feedback. I volunteer at Wintriss Technical Schools, teaching elementary and secondary school children robotics and programming. When I can manage even more time for coding I contribute to several open-source projects.
History
My passion for creating software started when I was young. Ever curious, I wanted to learn how to make the early generation video games my childhood friends and I would play. I purchased my first computer with a years worth of paper route savings, and began teaching myself BASIC and then C from magazines and books. My efforts sped up greatly upon gaining access to the World Wide Web and Usenet in the mid-90′s, and grew into a career in the lead up to the Year 2000 problem.
Other Interests
Away from the keyboard I’m actively trying to develop hobbies in rock climbing and backpacking into one of mountaineering. Otherwise I’m riding my motorcycle, tinkering with robotics, or reading about neuroscience and cosmology. I follow Formula 1 and NFL football regularly, and enjoy playing volleyball or any other sport that gets me off my seat. Some dormant interests I’m always hoping revive include sailboat racing, music, model helicopters and aviation.
